Apple Tops RIM In Smartphone Sales August 26th, 2012

Apple has officially topped RIM in smartphone sales.
That's according to IDC's 3rd quarter of 2010 report, putting Apple number 4 in the world's largest mobile phone vendor list:
1. LG Electronics
2. Samsung
2. Nokia
4. Apple
5. RIM
Since IDC began tracking mobile phone sales in 2004, Sony Ericsson was bumped out of the top 5 list for the first time.
The introduction of the iPhone and later the iPhone 4 has certainly made Apple surpass the Blackberry maker RIM. But then RIM has always targeted business enterprises for the Blackberry right?
Digital Trends reported:
In terms of growth figures, Apple was dominant. The iPhone maker reported an increase of 90.5 percent in phone shipments from the third quarter of 2009. Apple's surge was in large part due to the release of the iPhone 4, which sent the company's overall iPhone sales soaring to over 14 million for the quarter. RIM had the second most highest growth numbers with just under a 50 percent increase in shipments.
I personally do not understand the 'magic' of Apple and the iPhone. It's too expensive but all demographics seem to be buying.
