Online Services

The current generation of Apple's iPhone does not have a GPS receiver built-in (although rumour has it that the next one will have it) but the Google Maps application that comes with it allows you to find your location on the map.

The iPhone uses SkyHook Wireless technology that maps WiFi hotspots to determine one's location. The company has an extensive map of the US and Europe and is currently mapping Asia. So, being in Asia, it takes time before I can get an accurate reading as to where I am at. Don't fret because you can help them speed up the process by registering your wireless access point. Now, I have an accurate reading whenever I am at home (which is close to useless anyway since I know my location!) but with more access points mapped, the better and more accurate the service is.
So, what are you waiting for? Let's map it!
