With mobile phones supporting video-capture along with photo capture, it makes sense to let mobile phone users to streaming video on the internet. The bandwidth may be an issue but with EV-DO and HSDPA already deployed, I think it is no longer an issue.
This is what qik.com thought of. Requiring only a quick download of their application and a free registration, it does not take long to start streaming your video. Unfortunately, it is a Symbian-only application limiting you to a handful of handsets only.
At the moment, it only supports the following mobile phones from Nokia: N71, N73, N75, N76, N77, N80, N91, N92, N93i, N95, E50, E51, E61i, E65, E70m E90 Communicator, 3250, 5500, 5700 Xpress Music, 6110 Navigator, 6120 Classic, 6121 Classic, and 6290.
We can only wonder when they will be supporting other mobile platforms.
