Turn your mobile into a wifi hotspot April 6th, 2008

TapRoot Systems announced their WalkingHotspot product that turns your Symbian or Windows Mobile-based mobile phones into a WiFi hotspot utilizing your phone's data connection. This is convenient specially if your mobile phone cannot be tethered, wired via USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth, to your portable computer.
taproot, however, prefers to deal with telcos directly instead of the consumers. What is even more concerning is that the telco can be allowed to monitor and control the hotspot remotely. Now, would you want telcos snooping on your mobile phone?
