TransferJet: Data Transfer at jet speed?

Some good news from the world of wireless technology – very soon TransferJet will start making its presence felt in Sony gadgets. This technology developed by Sony enables wireless data transfer between gadgets. Working at range of up to three centimeters its speed matches that of USB cable. It's not complicated as it does not include complex pairing or security functions.

TransferJet system includes a card which weighs two grams and transfers data at high speeds. With it you can transfer data between two gadgets in a seamless manner but you might get pained by its range which is just three cm. You may call it strategy or coincidence, even the length of its new 8 gigabyte MS-JX8G Transfer Jet Memory Stick is three cm.

The technology has got the backing from companies such as Canon, Kodak, Samsung, Toshiba, Panasonic, Nikon, Olympus and Pioneer. If you talk about performance then it is expected to improve in the days to come but one of the drawbacks is that it only works with Sony products and that too some selected ones. It may not be a competition to Bluetooth at present but Sony knows how to make its technology popular. Expect the price to be somewhere around ¥10,000 or $112.
