Right now Ive deployed myself onto a coffee table somewhere in the metro. I've set down my bags, ordered coffee and pulled out my laptop. It would take me approximately 2 minutes to get cleaned up if I had to pack up and leave immediately. 30 minutes ago however I was walking along the sidestreets chatting with two friends using a blackberry pearl's built in IM application. I was, simultaneously, answering emails and receiving SMS.
In these two different instances I was definitely unwired and mobile. Several months ago the concept of wireless technology could not have been divided in a more profound way as "wireless" itself was an innovation. Nowadays, wireless technology lifestyle trends can be segmented into "pseudo mobile" and "fully mobile." I'm in pseudo mobile mode right now as I've deployed my gear so I can do more. The objective was to build a remote desktop solution somewhere so I can work comfortably.
"Fully mobile" mode on the other hand is the ante room to working on a desktop. Scheduling appointments, chatting, making small follow ups, small deadlines -- those are the things you can do while commuting, hurried, and without effort of thought.
It is just amazing at how wireless technology can be segmented. Replying to someone with "I'm on a Blackberry now so I'll explain the details further when I get to a hotspot" really does revolutionize the was we stay connected.
