Social Networks: Good Business? October 14th, 2007
An in-depth article "Christine Rosen on Virtual Friendships And The New Narcissism" discusses social networking online. Basically the question raised in the article centers on the way people are using online social networks more and emphasizing less the time one spend hanging out with real people face-to-face.

Inevitably as one stops doing one thing, another activity takes its place. So as we stop mingling with people face-to-face we either watch more television or we hang out socially on the Internet.
Evidently, it is seen by some that replacing face-to-face time with online mingling socially we are going to stunt out physical capability of mingling socially.
I don't see it like that. Online social networks give me a new dimension not available in mingling face-to-face. It would be impossible to mingle with people around the world like I do on social networks. And business is moving towards a global possibility that it is important for me to be online socially.

For people like me who are stuck in the house and can’t see people face to face then interaction via social networks allows socialisation so it works for me.
