Scribus desktop publishing

Want to publish a paper newsletter, promotional flyer or some similar text? My recommendation is to use Scribus a fully featured desktop publisher similar to Adobe PageMaker, QuarkExpress and Adobe InDesign.

The reason I recommend Scribus is that it is a free package with versions for Linux (Ubuntu), unix, Mac and Windows, plus a portable package that can be carried on your U3 USB stick or your own Portable Application USB Stick. This means that regardless of operating system you can access files created with Scribus.

In addition, Scribus is powerful featuring all the functionality that you would expect of a similar program. AND it is easy to learn — it took me about 15 minutes of tinkering and I had my first document on its way and another 30 minutes and I had created the basics of a one-page flyer.
