Samwell Ruggedbook PC657 UMPC

Want something really quite rugged to do those in-the-field computing tasks? Thanks to engadget we are introduced to the Samwell tablet PC that is ready for most anything. What engadget shows is the:

Ruggedbook PC657 from Samwell, which does indeed pack a beefy shell to protect the innards from whatever comes its way. The seven-inch UMPC includes a 800 x 600 resolution touchscreen, a 1.2GHz VIA C7M processor, Windows XP Professional, a PCMCIA slot, SDIO / MMC slots, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, a fingerprint scanner, and an integrated camera.

Not quite sure how it works, but it looks good from first impressions.

More about Samwell Ruggedbook can be seen at AVING.net. Samwell have quite a range of tablet PCs. Great pictures of the PC 668 can be seen at AVING.NET.

I am not too fussed about the idea of a tablet with no keyboard. I suppose getting used to anything can be done.
