I came across this easy to use and definitely cool way to resize images: QuickThumbnail.

This is definitely the quickest way to resize images. All you have to do is to browse to the image you have sitting on your computer, select which way you wish to resize your images (by percentage, Fixed Sizes listed in pixels, or by standard sizes used across the web), and then press the "Resize button".
Within seconds your image is displayed on a web page in the different sizes you chose. Then all you need to do is to right-click the images and save it back to your desktop.
I suggest that you bookmark this site and make it your first stop when using images in websites, powerpoints, etc. A must use service.
