Palm apps go iPhone

Filed in archive Software by Rom Feria on May 31, 2008

One of the most popular PDA platforms is the Palm. I still have a number of friends using their Treo, a PalmOS-based smartphone. The number of PalmOS applications is far higher than what is available on the iPhone and undeniably larger than the soon-to-be-released Google Androidlinks. So just imagine having all those PalmOS applications on your iPhone - wouldn't that make the iPhone the ultimate mobile phone platform?

This is exactly what StyleTap has in mind after successfully making PalmOS applications available on the Windows Mobile platform. StyleTap will soon release the iPhone version, maybe after the June 9 WWDC keynote.

Incidentally, StyleTap is also working in porting PalmOS apps to the Symbian platform.

Personally, I wouldn't bother since the user-experience is entirely different on the iPhone. Yes, you can tap but can you make full use of the multi-touch features? Will applications automagically rotate as well? AND I am sure that the emulated apps will be butt ugly! :P
