Out of the box experience

Gadgets need to be easier. Research by the British firm Mark's and Spencer found that 60% of its customers do not enjoy shopping for Electronic Gadgets due to pushy sales people, not really understanding features of a gadget, and problem user manuals that make matters worse rather than explaining how things really work.

This is what Apple excel at – make the "out of box experience" the best possible. Gadgets are meant to be opened and work straight out of the box, no fuss, and little to no explanation as to what should be done to operate it.

What about your experience with items you buy for your business use? My experience has been that since companies have done a lot of manufacturing in China that the user manuals have gone backwards instead of forwards.

Although, I must say, Toshiba did a good thing in the "Quick Start" guide to getting my new laptop working.

Yes, Gadgets need to be easier.
