This wireless system updates you regarding the energy usage at your home and it can be placed anywhere in your house since it comes without wires.

The tiny sensor fitted in it tracks your energy usage and transmits it wirelessly to the display unit. It can store and display information of up to ten years and even comes up with a USB connection so that you can further analyze the energy consumption data on your computer and plan out an energy saving strategy accordingly. The energy saving device is still in the design stage and is expected to go into production later this year. As far as the price is concerned it's still undecided.
