NoPoPo Rechargeable Batteries: Just fill with water   September 18th, 2007

Need to use rechargeable batteries. If you are like me, I find rechargeable batteries to be hopeless. I can never remember to put them on charge so that I can use them when away from power. Well a Japanese company has solved the problem with its so called NoPoPo (No Pollution Power) Rechargeable Battery.

While they are only available in Japan at the moment, they will be in other countries in early 2008. How they work is that a small amount of water causes a checmical reaction to create battery power. To recharge the batteries just add a tiny amount of water through a pipette – can be done in airport toilets for example.

Have no water? Then use some cola, or any other liquid you have available.

The batteries currently only work in the small sizes of battery, like AA and AAA. Larger batteries will be provided when the technology is converted to those sizes.
