The "Curve", according to its manufacturer, is noted to be the smallest and lightest BlackBerry on the market and includes a QWERTY keyboard. According to Cellphonebeat, the Curve is the smallest device with a QWERTY keyboard. It will appeal to business users in that it has an overhauled desktop manager, and incorporating multimedia applications. The curve is also one step ahead of the 8800 in that it includes a camera.
Research in Motion Ltd (RIM) announcement comes as many vendors are readying for the arrival of Apple Inc's iPhone, set for next month. The iPhone features patented multi-touch screen technology, 4GB and 8GB memory, dual-band GSM and supports EDGE, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi (strong Wi-Fi) and Bluetooth 2.0 for linking to headsets.
Looks like the multimedia, phone/computers (as they have become) is set to sizzle later this year. The only thing that will put people off are the skyrocketing prices. It is slated that the iPhone will be a sizzling high price, while the Curve will be more realistic even though it is a multimedia phone.
I don't know that any of these new features are really going to mean more productivity in getting emails done, phone calls made and being in contact with the office. Perhaps the QWERTY keyboard will be easier to get emails done; the jury is still out as to whether the iPhone is going to be an easy to use device. It has no keyboard and no stylus. Everything is touch screen.
