Moving to Free Software September 20th, 2007
If you run Linux of some flavor on your PC you will already be basking in the sun of free software. However, if you are a Windows user, then you might want to start sifting through the programs around that are either completely free or are open source.
A book on the subject is "Moving to Free Software" by Marcel Gagne. You might also visit a site with a very comprehensive list of free software for the Windows environment.
