The W3C just released a document detailing the Mobile Web Best Practices for developers of web content. This is extremely useful for those who are always untethered but connected to the web via mobile devices.
Whilst this seems to have documented what are needed for the Mobile Web, the question is - is it still needed considering that devices are rapidly providing support for the "desktop web", if there is such a term? Take the case of Opera and Mobile Safari - both renders the "real" web instead of some reduced version of the sites. Anyway, this is still a welcome document.
What is quite interesting, though, is the absence of Apple in the list of sponsors.
Isn't it to the best interest of Apple to be defining the mobile web best practices? Isn't the iPhone one of the most popular internet devices available in the market today?
