Mobile Phone Airplane Mode

Filed in archive Mobile Phones by Elwyn Jenkins on October 13, 2007

Is there a standard to which mobile phone manufacturers adhere when providing you the "Airplane Mode" status? Well evidently not according to the ZD Net article "Clueless flight attendant to passenger: Turn off that iPhone movie NOW!".

AND the truth is that flight attendants and their airline companieslinks are nowhere briefed well enough on what technologies are available today and how they work.

You may be asked to turn off your mobile telephone even if you are in "Airplane Mode" because there is no standard for such and your airline/attendant may not be briefed well enough to understand what your technology is and how it can be safely used in the air.
