Macbook Air SMC Update   March 12th, 2008

Macbook Air SMC Update
The Macbook Air is starting to be one of the best tools available for the road warrior. However, some users are reporting frequent CPU core shutdown due to high temperatures, i.e., when the going gets hot, it shuts one core down. hehe. Anyway, this is often experienced when viewing flash-based videos such as those from YouTube. Well, it is a known issue with Flash not being that compatible with Quicktime or something.

Apple recognized the issue and released an SMC firmware update, which fixes speed and operation of the internal fans. Unfortunately, some folks (like me), can't install this update – the system says that my MBA has the latest firmware or something.

Have you guys experienced this when applying the update?
