Did you know that the use of SMS (texting using a mobile phone) has been very popular in Europe, and now since 2005, the volume of text messages (in USA) has doubled in just one year.

Families have not understood the capabilities of teenagers to generate text messages, so much so that some teenagers have generated so many text messages that they have blown the cost of owning a mobile phone to extreme proportions. One teenager generated over US$1,100 in just a month.

A part of the texting explosion is also created by businesses. Key businesses uses of SMS texting include:

* To notify roaming employees, such as sales people or technicians on the road, of any updates or messages
* To issue immediate alerts about emergencies and critical situations, for example, to alert a network administrator as soon as the Internet link is down
* To send important information to key customers or suppliers, thereby ensuring that the information is received by the right person, immediately
* For marketing or CRM purposes: SMS messages are personal and have a high response rate
* As a kind of call center: Customers can send questions and receive replies by SMS, reducing call volume.

Texting can be a valuable business communication opportunity. Most any business can use texting in one way or another to generate close communication with customers, and/or employees.
