It's Official: Google Number One Again

It was in January 31st 2005 that the brand "Google" slipped from its number one position (as reported by "Blog news channel"). Today it is official, Google is back in the number one position.
So why do we mention the huge Google behemoth in "Tech Without Wires"? First, if you do any promotions online, at all, you need to know where you are in Google's search engine. Second, if you take notice of Google and the way it goes about its business, there will be a number of niche's created by the Google information tools (and there are many of these tools, expanding at a frightening rate) that you can exploit. Third, you could just learn something about the way Google has created an enviable position and apply it to your business.
Using one of Google's new information handling tools (Notebook), I created a study of quotations from around the Internet what we can learn from Google and the way Google does business. (Want to know how I made this page and published it to the Internet, go to the Notebook FAQ page and learn how to publish notes.)
Probably the one thing that stands out for me, about the Google story, is that they believe and have demonstrated that the way they buy and supply technology for all their business activities, influences worth ethics, employee energy levels, and most importantly, the amount of innovation.
So what technology does Google buy? No name brand ordinary PCs with hi-tech peripherals. Most Google employees have opened the back of their computer and added a card, extra memory, or new technology of some sort. The entire company has ordinary computers that you and I have on our desks. Be innovative, buy no name brands with something extra not seen by a branded computer. Be open to change and allow everyone in the company to influence that change, as embodied in the very computer on the employee's desk.
(And no this is not an official Google logo. Like many of the apocryphal logos, no one is really sure where it started but have done the rounds a number of times over.)
