Recent information suggests that if you run a wi-fi hotspot secured by a "WEP" password it is not really that secure at all.

According to technicians, the older WEP password can be hacked very easily. The only redeeming fact is that for someone to hack your hotpost, the hacker needs to be in the area of your hotspot.
As most hotspots that you or I might own are usually in the suburbs, the possibility of being in the vicinity of a hacker is reduced from say wher I might own a hotspot in a city precinct.
It is suggested, though, that if you do run a hotspot that you should secure it with the more secure WPA key. It is worthwhile a visit to this topic to see how best to secure your hotspot.
