Is there going to be a Google Phone?   September 1st, 2007

There is just so much talk across the Internet right now about a possible Google Phone or a Gphone as some are calling it. There are even prototype drawings that look pretty real.

Is there going to be a Google Phone?

Perhaps the most extensive article about the GPhone is "The Gphone is coming; how Google could rewrite the rules". Within this article there are some concept drawings of what a Gphone might look like. These concept drawings are the work of Lorin Wood, a previsualization designer who specializes in concept and ideation for Hollywood.

There is a good discussion on LinkedIn about the possible GPhone, found at "What do you think of the rumored Google mobile phone?".

Another article about the potential GPhone is "Is Google's Mobile Phone in the offing"

I know there is much rumor about the GPhone, however, I would have thought that rather than Google having its own phone that it would want to have its software available on any and every phone. What about a contract with each phone manufacturer to have "Google" software pre-installed on each phone.

As with all of these things, time will tell who is right on all of this speculation. I am opting for the idea that Google wants to be on every phone not just a phone of its own making.
