Wireless

Every time I go to Starbucks I am tempted to get out my laptop and do some web browsing, work or other something on my computer. I always know that at Starbucks I can get good quality/speed wi-fi. But there is one drawback. At Starbucks the wi-fi hotspot is not free!
So it was with a little bit of interest that I see some people think Starbucks are going to make their wi-fi hotspots free. I don't know what juice those people are on, but I think it is most unlikely that Starbucks are going to make their wi-fi hotspots free. In Australia, the wi-fi hotspots are provided by Telstra the big monolithic telecommunications company. It is highly unlikely that Starbucks will offer this free as I can just imagine how much Telstra would want from Starbucks to provide it for free.
Similarly in America, I doubt that T-Mobile would want to make wi-fi surfing free at Starbucks. Wi-fi at Starbucks is not going to be free any time soon . . . so get used to it.

There are number of projects going on in major US cities that will make free wi-fi availalbe in parks. It's an inevitable trend. Just think about it, free wi-fi will bring you more customers, Starbucks.
