Online Services
by Rom Feria on July 12, 2008
A few days ago, Apple finally released their MobileMe services, the successor to their .Mac services. Dubbed as "Exchange for the rest of us", the service was launched not without problems! In a rather unexpected circumstance, Apple experienced multiple glitches in the release of this service - putting the web apps online and back offline several times.
My personal experience with the service is pleasant except for the following issues:
1. Safari 4 is not supported. This is a higher version that the officially released Safari that comes with 10.5.4.
2. Firefox 3 on Linux is not supported either.
Right now, MobileMe is far from perfect. I added a Calendar entry on my Macbook Air, synced it and it won't appear on the web app! True to its name - it is definitely "Exchange for the rest of us", including its unreliability! Hahaha...
Kidding aside, if Apple is to position this service to consumers and dub it as such, I think they should improve the reliability of this service. Otherwise, just display the Fail whale. :)
