Escarpod: the Podcatcher

When I was using the Nokia E61, a Symbian-based phone, the podcatcher that I was using was a built-in client. Whilst it definitely was no iPod, it was not that usable as well. Maybe it was just me but I did not use it even if I have 1GB of free space on my secondary storage.

Now here comes Escarpod, "a podcatcher (downloader and player of podcasts) for cell phones that run the UIQ graphical environment." Whilst it will not run on my Nokia E61, at least it will run on other phones. :)

Features include:

  • RSS feed updating and show downloading
  • Built-in player
  • Persistent position in shows between restarts
  • Cover art
  • Support for podcasts stored on flash card
  • Automatic downloading of new shows

What makes this even better is that it is open source!
