Energy saving power-strip

New inventions are always welcome when they ultimately will save money. French designer Gilles Belley has adapted an ordinary power board idea by adding a power-saving device.

Engadget in the article "Energy saving power-strip cuts waste" shows the picture above of this new adaptation of a power board.

Apart from the power board clamping onto a corner of your desk, it seems what is special about this board is that it will sense when a device goes to sleep (such as your laptop going to sleep after 10 minutes of not in use) and will reduce the power to that item.

This power board is not available commercially, but would be a welcome alternative to the $2 power boards I currently use under my desk.
