Do we need smart phones?

IntoMobile reports that SNAPIN Software's research reveals that Brits use the mobile phones basic functionality more than the extra features such as multimedia, etc.
In the Philippines, Filipinos use SMS even more than voice! However, there are lots of Filipinos with Nokia and Sony Ericsson smart phones and not to forget, iPhones! I personally use an iPhone - for basic voice and SMS *AND* for taking photos, surfing the internet, music, video and e-mail. Frankly, this is one of the best tools for a road warrior - a worthy back-up to your laptop!
Have you tried spending the entire day with only your smart phone as your internet and e-mail device?
