Dell Laptop Bursts into Flames August 28th, 2007
As reported by ConsumerAffairs.com, a Georgia Man's Dell Laptop Burst into Flames.

This is not the first time a Dell Laptop has been involved in such an episode. In fact, in Canada Dell has been sued over exploding batteries.
It is claimed by Thad Griffin, of Ontario, in the class action lawsuit against Dell that Dell knew about the overheating laptops and continued to sell them. It also alleges that even if a Dell laptop does not explode the undue heat created by the battery causes undue wear to the motherboard and other components resulting in the laptop prematurely being rendered useless.

While Dell has recalled millions of batteries, other exploding computers have been recorded. For example, a Macbook was reported to have started a fire in Australia. However, it is Dell that is suffering the worst with overheating laptops and exploding batteries.
Perhaps a word of caution should be heeded if you intend buying a Dell Laptop. The main trouble with dell laptops seem to be with the Inspiron models 1100, 1150, 5100, 5150 and 5160. However, it would be good to seek other people's experience with any other models and to ask whether the battery seems to overheat abnormally.

I also learn that Rechargeable dell batteries undergo self-discharging when left unused. Always store a inspiron battery pack in a fully charged staged for storage. so you need full charged before go hoilday, so will keep you new dell battery in 100% condition
Dell inspiron 1100 laptop can’t meet needs now, and the old dell inspiron 1100 battery ( http://www.batterygoshop.co.uk/dell/inspiron-1100-series-battery.htm ) can only last 3 hours.
