Contact Management: Kurlo June 8th, 2007

Web Explorations recommends Kurlo for a contact management program . . . you know . . . to handle all that customer data that you require. The best part about Kurlo is that it can be operated from a USB Device for true portability. You can run the program on any computer including in a client site, Internet cafe, or any other place and not leave any data residue on the computer you used.
For my contact management I looked at many software solutions including SugarCRM and Daffodil. However, these were much too complicated and were not intuitive. Then, I came across Kurlo. This program was written in Java and allows you to maintain information on people and organizations. Each entry can be cross-referenced to many different categories. I'm using this to keep track of all my business connections along with notes of meetings, birthdays, children's names, etc. I can also add unlimited custom fields. Best of all, I can run Kurlo from my USB drive.
To run Kurlo from Linux you need to use WINE (a windows emulation program). To run Kurlo from my linux computers I just plug in the USB Drive containing Kurlo and open the program with WINE. Works well!
