Bite Sized Entertainment February 27th, 2007
And now comes a new meaning for the word "downsizing." Following the way snacks are now served smaller, technology seems to be getting more and more hip with the way entertainment is also turning into bite-sized chunks.
Music, television, games, movies, fashion: We now devour our pop culture the same way we enjoy candy and chips – in conveniently packaged bite-size nuggets made to be munched easily with increased frequency and maximum speed. This is snack culture – and boy, is it tasty (not to mention addictive). [source]
Bite sized pieces of information throughout different times of the day (usually on our Internet radio, podcasts, mobile phone alerts) seem to be the easiest way to digest things. In this age of information, I pity the gradeschool student reading up on hamlet when in fact there's still so much more information and conversation going round compared to our time in the 80's.
