Want a new market to sell to online? A booming market that is going to double in the next five years? Then go no further than looking at marketing to baby boomers online. Small Business Trends report written by by Mark J Miller provide some interesting reading about why marketing to baby boomers makes sense.
The number of adults aged 50+ will soar in the next ten years. In fact, according to U.S. Census figures people age 50+ will be the only growth demographic. And as boomers have in the past shown that they are capable and do break the mold on anything that just about comes their way they will be a very interesting and lively lot online. Loads of baby boomers are coming to the Internet new; "always-on broadband" is a far better environment than dial-ups even was, and so many boomers are coming online to do real things, like watch movies when they want to in an on-demand world, buying realestate, selling things and just about anything the Internet will allow.
Boomers have always been at the forefront with embracing new products and technologies, and now they are doing it online in greater and greater numbers. This alone is worth understanding and pursuing the 50+ online market, the fact that boomers will have a go at just about anything.
Certainly as a small business owner I am going to take a second look at what I produce and make sure I am building a good baby boomer business. And what is more, I can sell to them from my wireless office, online and where ever I am I can be talking to online customers.
