Apps on the Go   July 12th, 2008

iTunes

Before the dawn of the iPhone, third-party apps on my mobile phone come from Handango. With the iPhone, applications are selected, downloaded and installed all from within the phone itself, i.e., no need for a web browser on your desktop to start the process. This, of course, is done for the jailbroken iPhones. :)

Now, with the release of the iTunes AppStore, the convenience of having a desktop client to view the available applications, similar to Handango, and the simplicity of allowing users to view, buy, download and install applications from within the phone, just like Installer.app, are now realized.

The iTunes AppStore is now available for iPhone 2.0 users as well as those with the new iPhone 3G. What makes the AppStore even better is that it is available in countries that do not even have an iTunes Store!

So, if you have an iPhone, what are you waiting for? Me? Am waiting for the iPhone 2.0 jailbreak! :P
